RYDER CUP RAGE: Monty Attacks...

Failing to make his first Ryder Cup since 1991, a rabid Colin Montgomerie stormed out of the gallery and onto the 18th green at Valhalla Friday, impaling captain's pick Ian Poulter with his long putter. Muttering "You worthless git," Montgomerie was eventually subdued by a Kentucky State Trooper as a fallen Poulter, who suffered merely a bruised rib, could only ask, "Monty... why?..." That part seemed obvious. Poulter and fellow Englishman Justin Rose had been as much as 3up before losing their match on the last with a wilting 3 putt.

European captain Nick Faldo called Montgomerie's actions "appalling," then admitted it was the best aim a European had shown with the flatstick all morning.

Halfway through Day 1, the U.S. leads 3-1.

Ryder Cup Unveils Team Shirts

Louisville, KY -- The official Team U.S.A. shirts were unveiled late Monday for this week's Ryder Cup. At first glance, I was as stumped as you were. That's it? I was hoping for something really ugly since the last time they won was with the most heinous shirts ever back in 1999, but this was just boring. Then I zoomed in.

U.S. Captain Paul Azinger explained the shirts, saying "it's like having Tiger in every group."

The current Ryder Cup odds pins the U.S. as the slight favorites at 5/4 with Europe at 3/2. Team USA has lost 5 of the last 6 Cups.
